It's the age-old debate - is the car a girl or a boy?

What is it about a vehicle that decides it's gender? Is it a colour thing? Perhaps it's to do with it's name (for those who name their cars). Or is it based on looks and size? Whatever it is, most people when asked will respond pretty quickly that their vehicle is most definitely a girl or most definitely a boy.
